Hello to you too !
I'm quite interested in what you saw in Hungary and their methods of observing weather.
Do you have any idea what kind of weather stations do they use, what brand ? In Romania the NMA (National Meteorological Agency) uses mainly Vaisala automatic weather stations and classical weather instruments.
In Hungary we (the Hungarian Meteorological Service) use normally Vaisala stations, not the type MAWS, but at climate stations QLC-50 and at synoptic stations type MILOS-500. This devices log parameters (temperature, pressure, humidity, wind), that values go to the report automatically. At some stations there are observers, who make visual observations, and at 00-06-12-18 hours UTC use classical barometer, dry-and-wet thermometer, manual precipitation meter, and measure temperature and water level in a vat. And there is the same device as yours which measures the time when sun is shining.

Where are you from ? What kind of weather station do you have ?
In Romania you can find mainly on Wunderground La Crosse weather stations, one Davis, one Rainwise and a couple of Oregon Scientifics.
I have 2 La Crosse weather stations and and Inspeed Vortex wind sensor:
http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/fin ... radea&MR=1In Hungary almost everyone uses LaCrosse weather stations, especially WS-1600, WS-2300 and WS-3600. I have a WS-3600. A can't show you it now, because my computer is out of order, I have some problems with it. I also have a webcam, but it's the same situation. The last picture is from about a week ago.
