1. SNOWFALL IN FEBRUARY 1952 In February 1952, Slovenia was heavy snow cover. The result is the highest snowfall total height of snow as it has ever been recorded in Slovenia. This is particularly true for the lowland. The total height of snow is almost everywhere in the lowlands (with the exception of the Adriatic coastal region, in the Mirna valley and the Krško polje) exceeds 50 cm. 15 February: Ljubljana 146 cm, Bovec 188 cm and Rateče 240 cm of snow.     http://skokus.fmslo.net/Vreme/snezenje19524.jpg Ample snow cover has completely paralyzed the market. Unbelievable flash flood and rainfall totals.  Also the snowstorm in 1952, maybe it's a little record for the Balkans...we had a fierce one also in feb 1954, but seemingly not that big... Please post more of your country's weather extremes! |

This name, Bistrica, is present in many countries.In Romania we have a town Bistrica(Bistrita) but pronounced exactly the same.Slovakia also has a city Bistrica, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia/Hertegovina, Croatia, Greece and Poland.9 countries, same name, common history, and a part of strong slavic influence in our latin language and in greek.We have a city Targoviste.Bulgaria and Serbia also have a city Targoviste. Back to weather, 140cm in Ljubljana in 1952 , unbelievable.I hope that very cold winters to return, soon....

In Slovenia are several towns called Bistrica: Slovenska Bistrica, Bistrica ob Sotli, Bohinjska Bistrica,... We also have a similar name as Targoviste, we have Trgovišče in the northeast of Slovenia!
