5. BRUTAL STORM WITH TORNADO F2 IN SLOVENIA - 13. - 14.7.2008

In Sunday afternoon the clouds come from the West from Italy. They began to make a strong stormy cel over the middle and northern Slovenia.
And the strongest storm first hit area of the city of Kamnik and the Slovenian Brnik airport. Tornado was struck above the village Gozd Kamnik and made a huge and difficult damage. Winds were blowing with the power of 200 km/h and all cast in the air. The storm is over move forward Zgornja Savinjska dolina near the cities of Gornji Grad and Ljubno ob Savinji. There is falling hail sized tennis balls. Then the storm move over Spodnja Savinjska dolina and Celjska kotlina with the city of Celje. I live in Prebold, a small village west of Celje. A storm is just take a little north of me. Most damages to the fields was on the northeast of Slovenia, exactly provinces Prekmurje. Nothing else is not, people weep.

That's just insane, i think there is no summer without at least one catastrophic thunderstorm, didn't know there was such an area in Europe that has weather as mad as in the United States.

So summer is crazy, but how are winters in Slovenia, do you get blizzards with snow and strong winds? In southern Romania good blizzards are more rare than good summer storms.

I think that was more like an F3 rather than F2. The trees are just trimmed. Congrats also 4 the funnel catch.
Neaceasca, northern Slovenia regularly sees nice blizzards every winter or so.

Yeah summers in recent years in Slovenia are crazy! On average, over the summer happens approximately 10 catastrophic storms and now estimate how much it is, sometimes, the summers are more moderate and less storm!

In Slovenia, there are three hurricanes winds: bora (burja), karawanken fen (karavanški fen) and southwesterly wind (jugozahodnik).
Everyone can reach speeds over 200 kilometers per hour.

Impressive! Slovenia looks like a paradise for storm-chasers

Questions: Bora does occur in N-NE-S-SW valleys or corridors doesn't it? High speeds like those are rather localized?
